Tobacco FREE SLO
Tobacco Free SLO is a tool created to support our local Tobacco Control Coalition to create a healthier County of San Luis Obispo community. In 1990, San Luis Obispo was the first city in the world to ban smoking in public restaurants and bars because of the community members advocating for a healthy community.
TUPECA
The vision of TUPECA is to create a tobacco- and vape-free generation in California. Their Mission is to prevent and reduce tobacco and vape use among California school-aged youth.
California Youth Advocacy Network
The California Youth Advocacy Network provides training and technical assistance to individuals, organizations, and coalitions advocating for tobacco-free communities.
Tobacco Control Program – SLO County
Tobacco Control Program – SLO County – The Public Health Department conducts outreach and community education, works with local jurisdictions to create tobacco-free environments through policy, reduces youth access to tobacco, and provides free classes to help individuals and families quit and stay off tobacco. The Tobacco Control Coalition meets regularly at Public Health and helps provide direction and support to the Department’s tobacco prevention activities.
California School-Based Health Alliance
The California School-Based Health Alliance is the statewide nonprofit organization helping to put more health services in schools. They were formerly known as the California School Health Centers Association (CSHC) until January 2014.
Friday Night Live
Friday Night Live is California’s leading youth development and substance abuse prevention program, engaging youth as active leaders and resources in their communities. SLO Friday Night Live coordinates school-based chapters across SLO County. Operating under a youth development framework, the programs provide support and opportunities for young people to develop meaningful skills. This is done while addressing pertinent youth issues, such as underage drinking, other drug use, violence, bullying and mental wellness.
CAPSLO
Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County Inc. (CAPSLO), has been San Luis Obispo County’s federally-designated community action agency since 1965. Through a variety of programs and in collaboration with other community service agencies, CAPSLO helps individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency and economic stability.
